What I Shot Today: Circus coming to Town...
Well, my son’s school is going to have something special this week, no normal class but projects and this year it’s going to be Circus… Circus Quaiser the kids learn to perform and will have performances to show off what they learned every evening.
This morning they put up the tent and my children and me sneaked onto school grounds to watch (and me taking some pictures of...

Analog Goodness: Mother of a Classmate of my Son...
Well, there still is hope for keeping analog alive:
On my way back from delivering my daughter to daycare today I spoke with the mother of a classmate of my son about the – again and again – awful digital pictures we are going to be offered from the bi-yearly visit of a photographer who takes group photos and „portraits“. Usually the kids are lined up in front of a red-painted wooden house (you...

Shooting Film & Digital #believeinfilm →
This is a good summary on options available. I am not in synch with any hint of „inevitable demise of good film“ (not a straight quote!) – there are new films coming on the market as well as new printing papers – but this a good read.
I do agree that for economic reasons digital is a good teacher. I still almost exclusively shoot analog real good film (Tri-X 400 @ 400, @800, @1600, @3200; New...

Project Exhibition
The headmistress of my son’s school has asked me to prepare an exhibition of pictures I shot at the school. They will cover some of the expenses like framing or stuff.
Wooohoooh!
Now I have to figure out a way to get decent prints from my digital images.

Thanks, good tip but I’m not getting an iPhone just for measuring light…

Pinhole day: Pinhole Cap trial Today (Tri-X 400)...
Put the pinhole cap on my Nikon F2 Photomic… nothing to see (well somehow guess), according to manual this is like 43-50mm focal length @180–200 aperture. They give some orientation for exposure to aperture ratio: 64 = x7,5
…and I think I botched it…
I had some 7 images left at the end of a normal 36 roll… my external light meter suggested an exposure I multiplied by 7,5 to get a minute…
I...

International Pinhole Day approaching: have...
Might be the best way to go, like a pinhole-lens. There are really nice designs for paper-pinholes on the web but I seem never to have the necessary time. Last year I built one with my son but the results were less satisfactory (pinhole was too large I suppose).
REALLY nice designs see here: readymech-camera

The Boston Terror Attack on bigpicture →
I was shocked to stumble across what happend yesterday, when I switched on my Mac this morning. We still don’t know anything really specific or detailed about this Terror Attack but it is already sure that this is what it is about: create TERROR, a culture or climate of terror. Specifics doesn’t matter at all in this newest act against humanity.
Looking at the many really graphic...

well, no,
on some occasions it was still pretty cold outside, I carried my camera in an Ortlieb bicycle bag, no special padding together with my towel & stuff (I don’t get in the water, just for drying my feet and the occasional „side effects“ from the kids in the water)… . After changing I let it sit some time in the changing room (next to the pool) and when I got it out later to shoot...

Developed Film Today: two Tri-X 400 120 @3200 in...
I collected more than enough rolls… need to empty the box a bit at least… so for a start two rolls I shot with my Zenza Bronica ETRSi (645) while watching over my son’s class at the school’s pool… Large window, but after all not that much light for those fast fast kids.
Still to go: 3 rolls Tri-X 400 120 @400 (family event & kids); the two rolls Tri-X 400 135 @400 I...
