I am currently working – dayjob on the SS, armaments industry and forced labor of concentration camp inmates: „slave labor“ – and scanning some film in the background. Tri-X from our trip to Northsea island Borkum, following my now established routine of scanning (2844x1872; tiff, rgb, ca. 16MB). I did notice in the past days that scanning medium format to same size output (24cm; 300dpi) takes much less time… the scanner does not have to work at the limit of its’ real-life resolution, fewer images per run. THEN I got newton rings on some images, quite shitty medium format film holder… unfortunately there are no third-party alternatives made any more for my scanner or they are very very expensive.
If and when I am back into medium format photography I might consider getting a better scanner, but all I will be able to afford will be a flatbed.
