Tri-X 400 is just plain amazing. Autocurves in Aperture, that’s all!

One of my ongoing projects is to document the school life of my son’s class. His school is lucky enough to have their own swimming pool and they get a regular lessons once a week. For some time I participated in helping their teacher to watch over the kids – and used the occasion to take pictures – with permission of their teacher of course.
Recently I have started to use my Bronica ETRSi for this and to get decent shutter speeds I have pushed Tri-X 400 to 3200 ISO. The results are remarkable in my opinion and clearly show the power and quality of SPUR’s HCDnew! The light was coming from a large window to the right, some direct lighting (we do might get a spring after all here in Germany) quite contrasty scene. After a soft scan some post-processing in Aperture 3 (auto curves, overall definition to 0.1, lifting of shadows and lower tones plus some adjustment to lift overall exposure to brighten).

I collected more than enough rolls… need to empty the box a bit at least… so for a start two rolls I shot with my Zenza Bronica ETRSi (645) while watching over my son’s class at the school’s pool… Large window, but after all not that much light for those fast fast kids.
Still to go: 3 rolls Tri-X 400 120 @400 (family event & kids); the two rolls Tri-X 400 135 @400 I shot with my son on the foto safari in March… a roll of Tri-X 400 135 @400 from as late as October… and so on.
More to come
